THE BRIDGE

London, 2026

Suvobrata Dutta is a composer and pianist based in New York whose work explores textures, minimalism and introspective musical landscapes. Dutta’s first solo piano project was After, an attempt at slowing down and revisiting the quiet beauty of what has been lost, giving these memories shape and space through intimate, lyrical piano music. The Bridge is a companion release to After, again released in collaboration with NOOX, and is a collection of live performances recorded earlier in 2026 at The Bridge Studio in Brooklyn. Rather than developing Dutta the composer, this release explores Dutta the improviser.

Dutta specifically chose not to perform pieces from After, aside from “Summer”, which is both representative of the album and a fitting piece for a release in the summer of 2026. While most of the improvisations appear as a sonic continuation of After, they exhibit a different face of Dutta’s creative process and a more spontaneous direction. Here, the listener is invited into the musician’s creative process, within a rather small and intimate circle. Just like After, The Bridge is built around stillness and quietness, and the desire to offer a pocket of time away from the noise and contradictions of contemporary life. Aside from the brief interruption of “Summer”, all five parts can be experienced both as individual pieces or, even better, as the artist envisioned them, evolving from one to the other in a longer, almost uninterrupted flow.

After stepping away from music for several years, a period of self-reflection brought Dutta back to composing — this time with the piano as his primary vessel — and with his creative voice forever changed. The Bridge captures his quiet and private moments of spontaneous musical thoughts and reflections. A lovely companion to After, the two releases together capture Dutta’s creativity in the early stages of his career. It is also worth mentioning the artwork, once again crafted by Andjela Preradovic, which is a great fit for both the abstract and evocative music of Dutta.
