Orchestrina 3 is the third project of this series dedicated to my nephews, and now niece! The aim of this project is to compose children’s music which can then be performed on simple instruments. The first project was based on the music box, and the second on the finger piano — known as the kalimba. This time I decided to go electric and compose this project for the Stylophone. 

 

The structure of the project is loosely based on the one of the theme and variations — in essence there are two themes on which the eight variations are based —, and is intentionally diatonic and child-friendly. The Stylophone is an instrument that many of us know thanks to it having been part of our younger years as an affordable small musical instrument.
