6'24"

London, 2024

6’24” is a piece for solo piano inspired by two musical worlds. Firstly, the one of improvised music, through the modal style of Miles Davis; and secondly the one of composed music, through the Tintinnabuli style of Arvo Pärt. The creative process is in three parts: the vocal improvisation of a chorus of Davis’ “So What”, then the transcription and recording of the part on the piano, and finally the transformation of the piece through Pärt’s Tintinnabuli and an extreme slowing process. The small production is the final touch into the resulting work. 6’24” is unsurprisingly named after its duration and released for Piano Day 2024.
